The Ink Tree Report Publishing Newsletter

Achieving Your Goals

The Ink Tree Report

I can't believe that in the last newsletter I was saying that September was almost here. Well, here it is, gone! Unbelievable. What's even more unbelievable is the latest news in the publishing industry that Snooki is writing a book. And no, not some trashy memoir outlining all of the trials and tribulations of being one of the ever-so-classy stars of Jersey Shore, but... wait for it... a novel! Seriously? Ok people, if she's publishing a book, so can you. Really, we can do better, can't we?

Get writing!

Talent isn't enough. You need motivation-and persistence, too: what Steinbeck called a blend of faith and arrogance. When you're young, plain old poverty can be enough, along with an insatiable hunger for recognition. You have to have that feeling of "I'll show them." If you don't have it, don't become a writer.

Achieving Your Goals

Many of us have either set goals in life or would like to set goals. The current popular phrase is the “Bucket List” made famous by the recent movie starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman – wow, a terrific movie!

So, has one of your lifelong goals been to “Write a Book” and if so then why are you waiting and/or what’s stopping you?

Of all the answers I have most often heard regarding this subject, there are two that seem to be the most popular:

• I am waiting until I have the time (or retire)
• I just don’t know where to start

The first one I don’t think we at Ink Tree Ltd. can really help you with. Time means different things to different people. The only thing I can guarantee you is that “time flies” and if you are serious about writing a book then it has to be more than just a nice thought in your head that has you making excuses as to why you cannot start this project now, or its something you are going to leave until you retire – nothing wrong with waiting until you retire but is that the real reason or is there something else holding you back?

Now, this moves very nicely into the second answer : “I just don’t know where to start”. Often this can be part of the procrastination that a person will have or the overwhelming reason that a person uses to make their dream or desire not happen, and this is true not just for writing a book but for all of our dreams!

Writing a book is a huge undertaking and where to start is the biggest question. The right answer to that can be the difference between making this a successful endeavor or not following through on your dreams and completing your book.

I have always believed, in fact we all at Ink Tree sincerely believe, that it is necessary to identify what needs to be done, i.e., the process. If it’s your lack of expertise that is holding you back, then find the right person who has the expertise to do it for you.

Writing a book is very costly and yes, it is quite reasonable to want to cut costs or save money whenever you can, but make sure it’s done in the right places and not where it will count down the road when you are trying to get the media interested or have it placed on the shelf at the bookstore. A few places NOT to cut corners would be:

• an editor
• a graphic artist
• a printer

So before we go any further, as there are so many places where mistakes can be made, we at Ink Tree have exactly what you need when you set out on your book writing journey. We have the Ultimate Book Marketing Kit which is exactly where each and every “new writer” wanting to follow their dream of writing a book needs and should start. This answers the second answer above “I just don’t know where to start”.

The Ultimate Book Marketing Kit takes you from the “thought in your head” to the finished product ready for the media/publicity and on to the “shelves at the bookstore”. Every little thing and big thing that can become a costly mistake is taken care of for you – all your questions answered, everything you need to do that will make this whole procedure easy to understand and make this experience interesting and fun, while following your dream to completion. It’s all there – one step at a time – AND we offer free coaching by email.

So, if you have created a “Bucket List” and one of the things you’ve added is “Write a Book” then get started the right way, make it happen and let Ink Tree Ltd. help you with the Ultimate Book Marketing Kit.

Skinwalker Moon

Helen L. Montgomery, Author

Available at: www.hlmontgomery.com and www.skinwalkermoon.com

Sara Sawyer is swept from her feet by the Indian traditionalist known only as “Hawk.” Mysterious and mystical, he enshrouds her in a world of magic...until one day, with little explanation, he returns to the forests that had formerly been his life.

Two years pass. Sara, a reporter, is sent to cover an unusual killing—a man has been found dead with a look of screaming terror on his face. Sara senses there’s more to the killing than meets the eye but rejects the notion that repeatedly suggests itself: that the actual cause of death was something supernatural.

That night, at the height of a fierce storm, he returns, bringing with him the disturbing tale of a skinwalker: a dreadful spirit creature he claims is responsible for the killing. But in rejecting a supernatural premise, Sara is forced to face the possibility that Hawk himself may be the killer…
