The Ink Tree Report April, 2005
Dear
author/publisher,
It's been a busy
month for us here at Ink Tree. We've been working hard to address
all of our publishing hotline questions and will likely incorporate
some of them into upcoming newsletters. We're also working on
negotiating another big non-traditional volume sale that may result
in a sale of 25,000 - 100,000 copies of one book! I'll keep you
posted on that one.
This month's
newsletter focuses one a unique non-traditional market for selling
books - your book's website. We haven't touched much on this area
much in the past, but it's something I'm personally learning more
and more about and I think it's a great avenue for selling more
books.
You'll find out
more below... on with this month's newsletter...

Do You Want to Know How to Sell More
Books Through Your Website?
Various studies have shown that
54% to 85% of online purchases begin with a search engine. And
just getting listed is not enough. You have to be at least in the
top 10 results to start getting traffic from the search engines,
with 34% to 69% of clicks going to the top 3 spots.
Do you have a website so you can sell
your book directly to the customer without having to pay commissions
to bookstores and distributors?
If you don't, you should. If you do,
are you selling enough books on your site?
You should know about the
opportunities available to you online today. The power of publishing
articles online to increase traffic to your site, reciprocal linking
to increase your search engine ranking, and much, much more.
I'm sure you also know all about the
power of publicity and how much of an impact your news release can
have on the media. Did you also know that your news release can have
as much of an impact online?
Understanding how to research the
most appropriate keywords for your website is a crucial first step.
In order to meet the demand of internet searchers, you must know
exactly what they are searching for. Once you know what they are
searching for, you can then learn how to optimize your website to
ensure that those potential customers find your book's website.
How important is it to understand the
potential for
selling your books online? Have a look at these numbers:
- Well over 400 people search online
for "cookbooks" each and every day.
- Over 138 people search online for
"mystery novels" every day
- 405 people look for "self help
books" online every day
...and that's just a few of the popular book genres. Imagine who is
out there looking for a book just like yours.
The possibilities are endless, and it
isn't nearly as difficult as you think to harness the power of the
internet to vastly increase book sales. What are you waiting for?
Get your book online today.
SPECIAL NOTE:
In our never-ending effort to help
you find new non-traditional avenues for book sales, we have
enlisted the help of a search engine optimization expert to create a
special program that will be available to only 5 of our subscribers.
If you want to increase the selling power of your website, this
program is for you.
We'll be sending out an announcement
within the next week with further details, so if you're interested,
watch your inbox. If you have any questions before then, email us at
